17+1 Creative Village at Spanjola Fortress
The conceptual design is based on values and methods brought together under the key principles: Identity, Sustainable Goals, Program and Education, and Conservation and Construction.
The design is intended to provide creative, practical, comfortable and inspiring environment for artists and creative professionals. We have envisioned the space that is both working space and leisure space, place of solitude and gatherings and place of great achievements to come. What is more important, we wanted to create a place that is an actual sustainable community, a place for creative industry, and innovation that will through the collaboration bring the growth in both economy and culture and arts.
This is also a place of unique design that is supposed to inspire, to be adaptable and resilient and to bring a sense of home for any participant from 17+1 countries. We strongly believed that making a unique culture enhanced by the specific cultures of participating countries will make Španjola fortress the hotspot for creative industry in Europe.
Besides this we wanted to introduce the special bond between these countries and China. This is where we introduce the concept of The Village. This village is a unit of it’s own, a community, it is a getaway, a destination. It is at the same time a contemporary state of the art innovation hub and also a romantic picture of a traditional sanctuary creatives search for. Within the walls we introduce The Village, the community and asylum inspired by Montengrin traditional midcentury town and village as much as Mid century European fortress town and Chinese village. Inspired by these traditions we came up with the concept that can be home and getaway at the same time but what is most important a vibrant, inspiring and sustainable environment for both innovation and creativity.
