Pavilions historically served as vehicles for political and cultural expression during -century international exhibitions. Initially considered temporary, the Barcelona Pavilion now stands as an iconic modern architectural masterpiece embodying simplicity, transparency, and structural purity.
In addition to its historical significance, the Pavilion has become a dynamic platform for artistic and architectural interventions. Pavilion Cross-Occupancies celebrates the convergence of architectural purity and artistic expression through a series of temporary interventions.
The initiative invites six diverse groups of voices to pay homage to the Barcelona Pavilion’s legacy and to expand its narrative as a living entity in the contemporary cultural landscape. This makes it a microcosm that reflects broader conversations about the human experience within the natural world.
The temporary occupancy by the different actors, from various geographical contexts, utilises the Pavilion space as a canvas to convey their vision, reflecting the unique character of their localities and experiences.
