This is a competition we have done long time ago and won the third award. The project brief is revitalization of the city center for Žabljak. This is a town in Durmitor Mountain with significant public infrastructure and spaces built after World War II, during an overall development of Yugoslavia.

With our project we tried to keep the most valuable parts of this previous development and integrate new programs and space with innovative reuse of the existing urban elements. So we have kept patios, streets and squares and enhanced them and integrated so they become a whole, one system of joint spaces and programs.

There is a new street architecture added through new typology. We have imagined street as the new vibrant space with an alpine style street-front.

New hotel is integrated in landscape – the only hill that is left as green area and it extends into the woods behind. In this way we have kept the green areas but as green roofs and terraces of the new structure that also extends into the forest.
